Calyx’s ESG Commitment

As a global organization dedicated to improving and saving lives, Calyx is committed to following an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) framework that ensures our business practices are sustainable and ethical.

As such, we are taking focused steps to minimize our environmental impact and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within our company and in the communities where we operate.

Calyx - Global Support and Presence

Everything  Calyx does is driven by science.

Our approach to our environmental impact is no different.

Following the science

Everything Calyx does is driven by science. Our approach to our environmental impact is no different.

Greenhouse Gases

Calyx has committed to reducing its carbon footprint in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement, which aims to keep global warming below 2°C, while attempting to limit warming to 1.5°C.

This means that Calyx has undertaken to cut the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions it controls by direct GHG emissions – defined as Scope 1 and 2 – 35% by 2027, from a 2022 baseline. We will also engage with our suppliers to reduce our indirect GHG emissions – Scope 3 – by 30% by 2032, again from a 2022 baseline.

Calyx has submitted these targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for verification. We are committed to publicly reporting our annual carbon footprint, using the CDP, a leading climate NGO.

The path forward

Our primary focus is on reducing Scope 2 emissions, which come indirectly from the generation of purchased energy from a utility provider.  Calyx’s headquarters in Nottingham, UK already uses clean energy, and we intend to move our other locations in the same direction by engaging with our landlords and using lease renewals as opportunities to push for clean energy supplies.

We are also actively requesting carbon footprint data from our suppliers as part of a corporate initiative to encourage them to measure and reduce their carbon footprints.

Supplier Diversity

In May 2023 we launched a program to collect revenue, diversity, and environmental data from all our suppliers. We will use that information to ensure we are directing supplier spend to diverse businesses and Small to Medium Enterprises (SME). We will use this information to create a supplier diversity program that will apply globally.

We have committed that at least 15% of our supplier spend will go to small and diverse businesses.

Additionally, all Calyx suppliers must sign and adhere to our Supplier Code of Conduct, in which they agree to treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of their race, gender, religion, or other characteristics.

Diversity and Inclusion within Calyx

At Calyx, we believe in harnessing the power of diversity in making the best-informed decisions, providing equal opportunities, and creating a meritocratic environment that is inclusive for all our employees.

We are committed to building an open, collaborative, and respectful environment, which recognizes and respects individual differences. We want to attract, recruit, develop, and retain the very best talent at all levels in our organization, as we believe good people are our competitive advantage.
